Noelle Stevenson mentioned in interview that they had actually planned to do full-on cat jokes with Catra – scolding her with a water spray, finding her behind the fridge, knocking over vases – but then they heard AJ Michalka reading Catra’s lines and they realized the character had way too much emotional resonance for those kinds of running gags to feel right.
