I’m Being Discriminated Against by a Psychiatrist

womanwithbpd:

I am beyond upset by tonight’s interaction with a psychiatrist. I have been admitted to Peterborough Regional Health Centre since January 15 of 2018. The hospital is located in Peterborough, Ontario, a medium sized town in Canada.

I do not know if you all remember my post a few months ago about being homeless, but the hospital agreed to take me in until I have found suitable wheelchair accessible housing.

Since being admitted to hospital, I have made two attempts to end my life – one through strangulation and the other was by means of an overdose.

When I met up with a psychiatrist tonight, he said I could not be moved to the hospital psychiatric ward for treatment because they ‘can do nothing for people with borderline personality disorder.’ Furthermore, he explained that they do not have the proper equipment to take care of someone who is wheelchair bound on the psychiatric floor.

I am so tired of being denied the help I need just because I’m labelled as borderline. I am also sick of places that are supposed to be wheelchair accessible not actually being so.
