Does gail ever tease helen back?

Later in their relationship she does get bolder and attempt to tease or make suggestive jokes (see her letters here) but they’re still quite tame in comparison, lol.

While Helen’s style of teasing is a bit lewd, Gail’s technique is to fluster Helen with random showy acts of affection.  Showing up at her window to serenade her,  bringing her gifts that have a lot of thought and care put into them, saying really mushy or corny things that would sound insincere from anyone else, but coming from her it’s very genuine.  

Gail is quiet, but very observant. She makes mental notes of Helen’s preferences, whether it’s a favorite candy bar or colors or a song that has some significant meaning, or a subject Helen cares about that Gail reads about so she can talk to Helen about it later.

It always startles Helen how much Gail remembers about their past conversations. Helen’s had her share of admirers in school, but none of them ever knew her well enough to give her butterflies like this.  Gail’s sincerity and thoughtfulness constantly takes her off guard, making her drop her smooth cool girl act and get shy. 😳
