Hey! Do you have a link to the GrayGail/Older!Gail comics? I don’t know how many you’ve done, but I went pretty far back in the comics tag! Do you have one that introduces older Gail?

elastigale:

I haven’t done that one yet, because it’s going to be quite long and I wanted to do a bit more stuff in chronological order first.  It’s probably the most-requested story, and I want to do it well!

I will say (since I’ve already spoiled it) that Helen finds Gail chillin in the park with her pigeons one day, out of the blue.  At this point, Gail’s been homeless for several years.  Here are some snapshots of hobo Gail to tide you over till that comic finally comes out:

Was Helen shocked and so happy to find out Gale was still alive after so long? Or in this greygale AU did she already know?

elastigale:

The GreyGail is all part of this same AU storyline, I’m just drawing things way out of order because I’m impatient/people keep asking for it!  But yes, when Helen does see Gail again for the first time, there’s a lot of emotional turmoil.  Mostly shock!  Happiness, confusion, and pity when she realizes just how rough Gail’s had it all this time.  Anger at whoever did this to her.  Sadness about Gail’s memories being wiped, and not even recognizing who Helen is anymore.

She takes it upon herself to help Gail recover and try to remember anything she can.  I’m excited to get to those stories. ❤

me

So I actually wrote my dissertation about this and it’s not just that the Department of Defence (there’s an office in the Pentagon dedicated to liaising with Hollywood productions), but they effectively have a strangle-hold on how Hollywood portrays the US military since the DoD give permission for producers to use military hardware, without that permission the cost of filming sharply goes up and films end up extremely over-budget. So the producers can either drop any critical elements at the DoD’s discretion, or continue with a film which will barely be released at all and will never make its budget back.

Any American film which involves the military, know that the DoD probably signed off on it, or were directly involved with. Films like American Sniper and Zero Dark Thirty had a heavy government influence, the latter to falsely justify the methods the CIA used in finding and killing Osama bin Laden, which included torture.

It’s why the military figures are always the heros and there will never be a Hollywood film which is critical of the US military because of this. Just remember, whenever you see the US military in a Hollywood movie, it’s exactly what the Department of Defence want you to see. It’s not being hyperbolic when these types of films are called propaganda.
