This is quite seriously my favorite part of any role-playing game. When players see their foe and instead of going weapons and magic blazing, them empathize.
That entire encounter was high quality roleplay and character interaction.
I don’t care about your political beliefs, but just compare Obama’s sense of humor to Trump’s fat shaming and jokes about disabled people and goddamn I miss Obama.
When her mind was wiped, they also took steps to make her forget/dampen her powers, so she isn’t able to fly (for now.) She has leg prosthetics that were provided by the government assistance she was getting immediately after her accident. They aren’t pictured in any of the sketches of her being homeless because she keeps them in her bag most of the time, but you can see them in other sketches here.
Prosthetics usually need to be refitted very often, especially at the start when your body is still getting accustomed to them and changing shape. Once the agency providing her housing was dissolved and she was evicted, Gail no longer had access to physicians to help fit them properly, so they aren’t very comfortable to wear. Unless she has to, she prefers not to have them on. (And for better or for worse, when she’s begging/busking for tips, people give more when she isn’t wearing them.)
I’m really excited for the comics about her being found again. I think y’all will really like them. 😭
