Lemonhope parts I and II draw strongly from mythology. From the obvious Icarus references of him flying around in his dreams, to his hero’s journey of running around from fate then accepting it, to his playing the harp, to his desire for freedom, to his golden locks, to the goddamn pirate ship ripping in half. There’s probably more direct references but as far as I’m aware it’s all over the place.
Phlannel Boxingday is a sharp reference to Athena who disguises herself as Mentor . “As Mentor, the goddess encouraged Telemachus to stand up against the suitors and go abroad to find out what happened to his father.“ In case you didn’t know this story is the actual source of the word “Mentor” as being like a teacher.
