I won’t sugar coat it. It was bad. I was never in physical danger but the emotional toll was steep. It’s still very painful to talk to them about who I am and who I love.

My grandparents on my dad’s side know and they think I’m going to hell. My grandparents on my mom’s side still don’t know because she’s afraid to tell them. I don’t know which side hurts more.

but um… on a happier note,

My sister and her husband were REALLY great! She baked me a “funfetti” rainbow cake when I told her about Sam and me LOL

My brother was surprisingly supportive too, he was like “Yaknow, I suspected!” and asked me questions about my girlfriend like, “What is she like? What does she study?” It was refreshing.

And I’d venture to say 100% of my friends supported me with each reveal – I guess I never hung around homophobes anyway haha.
