She sounds so… betrayed. And how could she not be?
Her best friend basically put her to sleep for millenia without telling the other Crystal Gems. It’s… horrible.
Okay let’s talk about Rose and Bismuth because this is important.
I’m gonna try to look at the situation from Rose’s point of view so don’t think these are my actual thoughts, I’m just thinking about something.
So Rose gets presented with the Breaking Point, and they start arguing because of course she’s against it. The thing escalates until it comes to violence.
Rose has a few options here:
1) She tells Bismuth to go back with her to the rest of the CGs and present the idea to them. The problem with this is that Bismuth is extremely charismatic and I’m sure a lot of other CGs agreed with her and would side with using the Breaking Point. This would lead to fights among them and it would divide them, so Rose discarts that idea.
2) Rose bubbles Bismuth and tells the other gems about it. Again, this would lead everyone to suspect Rose and would make a break in command, again leading to infighting and possibly losing the war.
3) She bubbles Bismuth and never talks about it, basically what she did. It’s reprehensible and horrible but it’s her best choice, so she goes for it.
I can see why Rose did what she did, but it was still wrong and awful.
I think this is the main difference between Rose and Steven.
Honesty.
That’s gonna be what saves them.
“Then you really are better than her.”
That’s it. The most powerful line in the entire show. Oh my god.
That’s not only a compliment. It’s her final words, a final FUCK YOU to Rose.
